Spirit Committee

The Russell Elementary Spirit committee is focused on developing and maintaining school and community pride through all school events and initiatives. Each year the Spirit Committee spearheads a number of events to bring our students and families together. Our mission is to ensure that every student feels connected to our school and that these events foster a love of learning, community, and school that will stay with them through middle and high school.

Some of the events and initiatives led by this committee include the following;

Harvest Fest – a school wide event ushering in the fall. The day celebrates the change of season and brings classes together in games, team building activities, and a little friendly competition.

Pajama Drive and Donation Day- students and families bring in new pajamas to donate to families who are in shelters and/or homeless, and each pajama is matched with a book before being given to families in need. Students celebrate this day of giving by coming to school in pajamas and enjoying a movie and hot chocolate.

Multicultural Night – this event showcases the diverse community at the Russell through dance, art, food, music, and literature. Families are invited to attend the evening event to celebrate all the wonderful cultures in our school.

Community Day – a day dedicated to the upkeep and beautification of the Russell. With our partners, families come out to clean up, paint and spruce up the school to keep it a welcoming and inviting space for the kids.

Field Day – our end of year celebration. Student and families travel to Moakley Park for a day of sports and games, followed by a barbecue.

Dollar Days – our uniform-free days, where students are invited to skip the uniform and dress to match a fun theme. The event is also a fundraiser for the school and the committee.
