MTSS – Multi-Tiered Support Systems

The Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team strives to assist the Russell School student population by providing targeted intervention tailored to our students’ individual needs. Focusing on the whole child, MTSS provides academic as well as social and emotional support. Collectively, Russell staff and community partners intervene as early as possible, so students can find success throughout their years at the Russell School.

Struggling students are referred by a staff member or parent(s).  Soon thereafter, concerns related to the child are discussed at a MTSS team meeting that is solely dedicated to that individual child. At the meeting, a detailed action plan with specific attainable goals is developed. Implementation of the plan occurs for a determined period of time, typically 6-8 weeks. At the end of this period of intervention, the MTSS team reconvenes to discuss progress and make further recommendations.

Together, our work will have a lasting impact on our students’ academic and social and emotional success.
